Stand Out with Self-Image & Style

As a woman who is trying to gain momentum and exposure in your business, you need to stand out with your self-image and personal style. If you are currently lacking self-confidence my recommendation is to start there. Why do I recommend that? Well because a lack of self-confidence can affect your whole life. Self-confidence is the way you see yourself and how you cope with whatever life throws your way. This is one of the most important things I help women understand. Lacking self-confidence will only highlight your insecurities and magnify your self-limiting beliefs. This is one of the reasons I created my business because I wanted to show women how to develop a warrior’s mindset. And a warrior starts by developing her self-confidence and what she believes about herself. And trust me, you can and will change your perception about yourself.

I grew up with a scarcity mindset and deep entrenched negative beliefs can greatly affect your self-confidence. If I can reconstruct a better way of looking at myself, so can you!

Self-esteem is the first thing you must work on because it’s how you value yourself and your self-worth. This is the most important thing you can do for yourself on a daily basis. It’s changing how you view yourself.

As a coach, I hold women accountable and help them cease internal damage. When you build your self-esteem it helps you harness self-respect and self-acceptance. And this self-respect helps you manage stress, which in turn helps you strengthen emotional and mental toughness. Self-esteem is the inner strength that helps you believe you are worth it. It helps you recognize bad behaviors such as procrastination, emotional eating, and overthinking just to name a few. This is why it’s so important to understand how to deal with stressful issues in life because if you don’t it can lower your self-esteem. In my opinion, your self-esteem is the sexiest part of your self-image and personal style. Learn to strengthen your self-esteem by making small changes such as fixing your body language and posture.

How you dress speaks volumes! Especially as a woman entrepreneur you mean business, and want to make a lasting, positive impression right? As a consummate professional, dressing appropriately means that you care about how other people see you. According to Emily Post, “Caring is one of the keys to developing personal image. This image-what we wear, how we look-represents not just how we choose to present ourselves, but reflects the importance we attach to the occasion and the people we’re with.”

Start holding yourself to a higher standard by dressing appropriately at all times. Even going to the gym you should pick appropriate clothes that make you feel confident. Dressing appropriately is learning to adjust your clothing based on the situation and where you are going. Moreover, when you dress appropriately it conveys a message to the world that you are responsible, and that you take ownership. This is leading by example so start dressing like a CEO. One of the key distinctions I do with my personal image is that I try to match my brand with my personal image. For example, I find clothes that accentuate my features and curves and this enhances my femininity. When my femininity is enhanced, so is my self-confidence. You must do the same. What self-image do you want to exude?

Self-respect starts with your grooming standards. You must be neat and clean at all times because the most attractive person is one who is attentive to her personal hygiene. This self-respect habit makes sure you have the basics down such as fresh breath at all times, daily showers, well-groomed hair, trimmed nails, and natural looking makeup that enhances your beauty.

If you have high grooming standards people will naturally gravitate towards you. We naturally assume that a woman who smells fresh and looks impeccable must have her home in order and her business intact. Through her grooming standards and appearance we believe that she must be organized and structured. At least this is what we think when we see someone who shows consideration for herself and others.

A woman with high grooming standards is attentive to her self-care because she knows this strengthens her self-confidence. Her self-confidence is her best accessory because it highlights who she is and what she wants out of life. When you care about your personal appearance it shows your clients and the people you interact with that they are important.

It’s simple habits that make you stand out such as regularly being attentive to yourself. It can be simple things such as frequently checking for food in your teeth, smiling at people more often, or being kind and compassionate towards others.

Do not eat with your mouth open! I know this is a no-brainer but we still see it all the time. People that loudly chew gum, or speak while they are eating is not having proper etiquette or table manners. Eating is a social activity, and rituals and manners vary from culture to culture.

Being polite comes in different forms and you should be cognizant of your manners because people will judge you based on your manners and etiquette. It’s sad to say, but most of these basic fundamentals have gone out the window. Simple gestures such as saying, “Thank you, I’m sorry, excuse me, or please forgive me are slowly becoming extinct in our modern day culture. Politeness is a low priority and people are getting ruder by the minute. Do you agree? The key is to learning how to differentiate yourself with these basic principles.

Be mindful of how other people perceive you and show more gratitude. I personally believe that, “Classy is the new Sexy,” and women in influential positions should know how to intertwine class and assertiveness. Depending where you are, you want to look classy and not necessarily sexy. It’s learning to accentuate your looks without showing off the wrong, “assets.” There is nothing more vulgar than a woman who goes to work with a tiny mini skirt and is showing the world all of her cleavage. When you dress like this, business contacts will not take you seriously because now they are distracted by other assets instead of your skill-sets.

Having etiquette is polite behavior so be a considerate person who cares about everyone you come in contact with. On the flip side, know when to stand up for yourself. One of the things I help my clients with is how to answer inappropriate comments or questions. When someone says something that is inappropriate you can simply say, “Excuse me?” This simple phrase can throw them off and make them think twice about what they have just said. Moreover, when you say this with assertiveness it also shows them that you are holding them accountable, and now they have an option to clarify their statement or apologize. Lastly, I will say this, stay away from gossip and rumors because it can affect your personal brand or company’s morale. And never forget that, “No one should make you feel inferior without your consent.”-Eleanor Roosevelt

You have more freedom of expression than ever before! Use this to your advantage and have a signature style that people can remember you by. Your style should be neat, beautiful, uniquely your own, and conservative depending on the dress code. Enhancing your style is a form of self-respect.

As a boss babe, find your style that makes you feel confident. Allow me to share my example for my specific style.
